I recently had the pleasure of enjoying the Combo: Berlin TV Tower Skip-the-Line Tickets + Guided City Cruise, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The visit to the Berlin TV Tower began with a seamless entry—no waiting in line, which was a huge plus. Once at the top, the views were absolutely breathtaking. Despite a light fog in the distance, the burning lights of the city created a magical atmosphere that truly highlighted Berlin’s unique character. The panorama offered a stunning 360° perspective, from the historic heart of the city to its modern skyline. A major highlight was the elegant revolving restaurant located 207 meters above ground. The ambiance, the food, and the slowly changing view as the restaurant turned—everything about it was exceptional. Dining there was an experience in itself, combining fine cuisine with one of the best views Berlin has to offer. The guided city cruise was equally impressive. Floating along the Spree River, we were treated to a fascinating journey through time. The bilingual guide (English and German) was both informative and entertaining, sharing interesting facts and humorous anecdotes that brought Berlin’s history and architecture to life. Passing by both grand historic landmarks and striking modern buildings, the cruise offered a unique perspective on the city. Seeing Berlin from the water allowed us to truly feel the contrast and harmony between the old and the new—a perfect reflection of the city’s rich and complex identity. This combo experience offers the best of Berlin from above and along the river. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a deeper, more memorable view of the German capital!

Things to know before booking a boat cruise in Berlin

  • Choose from short city loops to scenic lake journeys, depending on how much time you have and what you want to see. One-hour cruises cover key sights like the Reichstag and Museum Island, while mid-length options offer relaxed routes with sunset views or drinks onboard. For something more immersive, extended cruises take you through the serene Havel lakes or the charming Landwehr Canal, revealing a quieter, greener side of Berlin.
  • From solar-powered vessels to luxury yachts, Berlin’s cruises come in all styles, so just pick the one that fits your mood and travel style. Eco‑friendly vessels like solar catamarans and fully electric yachts like Fitzgerald or the historic Hemingway glide silently with minimal emissions, ideal for eco-conscious travel. Luxury yachts offer upscale comfort, lounge seating, aperitif service, and an elegant atmosphere, perfect for families or private experiences.
  • Choose based on the time of day: If you’re short on time or want crisp daylight photos of Berlin’s landmarks, a one-hour day cruise is a great choice. For something slower and more atmospheric, evening cruises offer stunning views of the city lit up, ideal if you’re winding down or want a more romantic setting. Celebrating something special? A dinner cruise combines great views with a full meal for a memorable night out.
  • Choose based on your cruise experience: First-time visitors will enjoy a guided sightseeing cruise with live or audio commentary. It’s a relaxed way to learn the stories behind Berlin’s most iconic landmarks. If you're after something more laid-back, opt for a no-commentary scenic cruise where you can simply enjoy the views. Prefer a more premium vibe? Some cruises offer upper-deck seating, drinks, or lounge-style boats for a quieter, upscale experience.
  • Audio guide vs. live commentary: All sightseeing cruises include live commentary in both English and German and/or multilingual audio guides (check your preferred language when booking).
  • Multiple departure points: Boats depart from convenient spots like Friedrichstrasse, Alte Borse, Charlottenburg, and Wannsee. Pick one that’s close to your hotel or near attractions you want to visit before or after your tour.
  • Most cruises require you to book a set departure time. Walk-up tickets are limited and often sell out fast on weekends, public holidays, or during summer festivals, so it’s best to reserve early.

Dine in Style on the Spree

Enjoy Berlin's landmarks by the moonlight while savoring a multi-course dinner, welcome Prosecco, and drinks aboard a premium dinner cruise. A perfect way to end your day.

Berlin’s unique waterways: Spree, Havel & the City’s Canals

Berlin is shaped by water—two rivers and a web of canals. The Spree runs through the city center, passing sights like Museum Island and the Reichstag. The Havel, to the west, flows through lakes and forests, perfect for longer, scenic cruises. Crisscrossing it all are canals like the Landwehr Canal, which slip through local neighborhoods, under historic bridges, and past hidden corners of the city. Each route shows a different side of Berlin.

Best time to go on a cruise
  • Weekday vs weekend: Berlin attracts hundreds of tourists throughout the year. It is crowded on most days. Avoid choosing sightseeing cruises that start from Mitte over the week, as parking is limited on weekdays on Mitte. If you want to tour the historic Museum districts after your cruise, avoid visiting on the weekend as most shops are closed on Sundays.
  • Best time of the year: April to May and September are the best months to cruise along the River Spree. The weather is pleasant during the spring and fall months. Also, there are fewer tourists in September and October as most students go back to school. June and July are the hottest months in Berlin. While visibility may be clear during these months, it may feel too hot to stand on the open decks for a long time under the sun. Avoid cruising in the winter months as the weather is unpredictable and may turn foggy.
  • Friedrichstraße: Board the U6 metro to reach Friedrichstraße.
  • Anlegestelle Alte Borse: The S-Bahn reaches Hackescher Markt, from where you can walk to Alte Borse.
  • Anlegestelle Wannsee: The IC2431 and IC2432 reach Berlin Wannsee station, from where cruises depart.
  • Liegestelle Seminarschiff: The U9 metro passes by U Turmstr, from wheer you can walk to this boarding point.
  • Anlegestelle Jannowitzbrucke: You can choose between the U8 U-Bahn and S3, S5, S7, or S9 S-Bahn to reach Jannowitzbrucke.
  • Treptow Harbour: The S8, S9, S41, S42, S45, S46, S47 and S85 metros reach the Treptower Park.
  • Caprivi Bridge: You can board the U7 metro to reach U-Richard-Wagner-Platz, from where you can walk to the Caprivi Bridge.

Most Berlin sightseeing cruises offer meal options on board. They are often not included in the tour, however, you can choose what you want to eat and book it separately after getting on the cruise. If you want to pre-book your dinner or want to enjoy your dinner while cruising along the River Spree, you can book a Berlin dinner boat tour.

  • Dinner cruise in Berlin: These cruises depart from Caprivi Bridge at 6:30 pm. You can enjoy a 3 or 4-course dinner, glasses of prosecco, a second drink, or unlimited cocktails on board, depending on the tickets you purchase.
  • Moonlight Cruise in Berlin: These cruises are ideal for romantic partners looking to enjoy a sojourn along the River Spree. You can enjoy wine and cheese while watching the illuminated landmarks pass by. The boat also plays soft music for you to dance to.
Facilities available on Berlin boat tours
  • Open decks: All boat tours in Berlin, whether you choose a convertible ship, a 2-story cruise, or a luxury catamaran, offer open decks so that you can enjoy unobstructed views of the waterfront. You can lounge on these decks throughout the cruise.
  • Heated cabins: The open decks get chilly after sunset hours, especially if you are cruising along the Spree around September and October. You can retire to the heated cabins on board and watch the landmarks from the glass windows.
  • Restrooms: There are accessible restrooms on boats for your convenience.
  • First-aid kits: All Berlin cruises have medicine kits and experienced staff on board to help you in case of any emergency.
  • Life jackets: There are life jackets and safety gear on board in every Berlin boat tour. You can make use of them in case of an emergency.
Tips to note before going on Berlin boat tours
